Sports & Relaxation Massage

Massage with Melissa Goring

Sports massage is a term used for a deep remedial massage, and is not just for people involved in sports.

Treatments can be tailored to problem areas and/or injuries to enhance rehabilitation by improving circulation, assisting the removal of waste products, and decreasing muscle tension when needed.

However, it can be used for general relaxation purposes to remove those niggling aches and pains.

What tissues can be treated?

Massage is used to manage, manipulate and rehabilitate soft tissues of muscles, ligaments and tendons, and can be combined with soft tissue techniques to increase muscle flexibility and joint mobility. Our sports massage is tailored to your needs and enhances your performance.

Conditions that can benefit include:

  • Postural imbalances
  • Repetitive Strain Injuries
  • Spinal problems/headaches
  • Sporting injuries or prevention
  • Occupational health-related conditions
  • General maintenance of musculoskeletal pain
  • Training for a sporting event or having just completed one

Swedish Massage

A Swedish massage is one of the most popular classic spa treatments, providing the relaxation you need.

The pressure can be as light or as firm as you like, perfect for unknotting your whole body and relieving any tension. During this treatment, oils (such as coconut, almond or jojoba) are applied to the body using long, even strokes to ease away superficial muscle tension. If you are allergic to nuts, just let me know, and I will ensure I use a nut-free lotion.

Many people find this light massage style more soothing, relaxing, and superficial than a deeper style. The choice is yours!
